A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.
This description summarizes the requirements of a facility maintenance custodian. There can be other duties assigned that are not specified on this list. Perform cleaning duties to keep shop floor and office areas clean and orderly. Remove scrap and refuse, sweep and clean work areas, aisles, etc. Scrub and wax floors, wash windows, dust furniture, clean restrooms with cleaning agents, including disinfectant. Fill all dispensers, replace lightbulbs, and all other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Maintain safe work environment (i.e., personal protective equipment, proper lifting techniques, etc.). Maintain restroom supplies, ensure paper is full and towels are full in all facility restrooms. Maintain restrooms cleanliness. Use Epicor ERP to log in and out. Empty garbage bins throughout the facility, including plant, restrooms, and offices. Assist senior maintenance personnel as needed or as assigned. Perform minor repairs if needed or assigned. Operate power sweeper. Operate vacuum cleaner when needed to perform duties. May assist in training new employees in similar maintenance capacity.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalency. Communication skills required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs. Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day. Must have full use of hands and fingers. There can be times when this job requires walking, standing or lifting, pushing and pulling.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job includes working in a manufacturing facility. Job could consist of running machinery or equipment. Must be capable of working independently to perform duties as outlined. Must demonstrate a good safety record and adherence to plant and departmental safety regulations.
Pay:
$16.70 - $24.23 per hour
