Appointment Type Full Time Description SUMMARY:
To provide custodial/maintenance services, and perform various tasks related to the efficient operation of the School District of Waukesha.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist in establishing and maintaining an effective and efficient custodial service and preventative maintenance system as outlined in the "Minor Maintenance Schedule." Perform custodial and housekeeping services such as cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, trash removal, snow removal, moving industrial grade furniture, repairs, and building & grounds maintenance. Properly complete daily and scheduled assignments. Assist in properly maintaining equipment and supply inventory. Provide building and grounds security as assigned. Actively contribute to reducing energy consumption per energy conservation program. Maintain a high degree of self-motivation and self-direction; express a positive and cooperative attitude and work ethic. Must be able to serve as a positive role model. Take direction and complete tasks in a safe and satisfactory manner. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Attendance is an essential function of this position. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required at the time of hire or for the continuation of employment. In addition to that listed below, qualified applicants must possess: Good organization and public relation skills. Maintain a valid Wisconsin drivers license.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Ability to meet all requirements and responsibilities, including a high school diploma or
G.E.D. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to empathize and find common ground for the good of the organization. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Evidence of outstanding organizational abilities; ability to handle multiple responsibilities. Ability to work as a successful team member with co-workers. Should have a history of confidentiality, stability, neatness, punctuality, loyalty, ethical consciousness, organization skills, and flexibility. Must have basic knowledge of computers.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to statistically manipulate numbers; make advanced mathematical calculations; check for accuracy.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to exercise good judgment and effectively solve problems. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical and work environment described is representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, bend, twist and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and perform repetitive motions; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee may occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 90 pounds, and with assistance, move and transport materials and equipment in excess of 200 pounds. The employee will regularly lift and transport items, including but not limited to lifting garbage bags out of 55 gallon trash barrels and transporting the bags, which could weigh up to 60 lbs., and lifting up folding cafeteria tables (weighing up to 335 lbs) at the center and pushing the folded tables on wheels up to 50% of working hours. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job the employee is expected to work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
