Specific Role:

The Janitor plays a vital role in keeping EMIT's facility safe, clean, and welcoming. With a strong eye for detail and pride in their work, this role ensures that all workspaces - including offices, restrooms, break areas, and production zones are sanitized, stocked, and maintained to support a healthy and productive environment.

Key Accountabilities:

Cleaning & Sanitizing Indoor Areas Clean and disinfect restrooms, breakrooms, and high-touch surfaces. Flush drains in restrooms and breakrooms as needed. Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors across offices, hallways, and shared spaces. Dust and wipe down furniture, counters, fixtures, and equipment. Waste Management Empty and clean trash and recycling bins regularly. Transport waste to proper disposal or recycling areas. Ensure all bins are relined and ready for use. Supply Stocking & Equipment Care Restock soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other consumables. Maintain and clean janitorial equipment. Monitor inventory levels and request resupplies before running low. Safety & Maintenance Awareness Identify and report maintenance needs or safety concerns (e.g., leaks, trip hazards, broken fixtures). Support internal safety and cleanliness standards. Use appropriate signage during cleaning activities (e.g., wet floor signs). Light Outdoor Upkeep Perform seasonal outdoor tasks such as snow removal, de-icing, sweeping entryways, and leaf cleanup. Maintain neat, hazard-free entryways and walkways. Collect debris from parking lots and keep outdoor seating areas clean.

Qualifications:

Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred, but not required. Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment. Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently. Willingness to perform both indoor and outdoor cleaning tasks in varying conditions.

Physical & Safety Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Comfortable standing, walking, and moving for the duration of a shift. Always use proper PPE when required.
