A Kitchen Staff assists with food preparation as directed by cooks, food supervisors or chefs. Cleans kitchen work areas and dishes. Prepares ingredients for dishes to be cooked, prepares beverages, and stocks salad bars or buffet tables.
Job Description - Kitchen & Bar Support (starts August 13)

Kitchen and Bar support: Thursdays (6pm to 9pm), Fridays (3pm to 9pm) and Saturdays (5:30pm to 9:30pm); additional hours as needed Position Summary Must be 21 or older to apply. Must be RBS certified and have a food handler certificate. Must be quick on your feet, have a friendly, outgoing personality, and work well with others. This position includes supporting the Kitchen Staff, Beertenders and general upkeep on busy days or evenings. Thursdays and Fridays will be 100% supporting the kitchen; and Saturdays will be split between supporting staff behind the bar, supporting kitchen staff, breaking staff, and running food and beverages to customers, under the direction of the tap room and kitchen leads. There is a possibility for additional hours as needed or for large events.
Hiring Timeline:
Interviews the week of July 27; training the weeks of August 10 and 17; with fully tipped shifts starting the week of August 24. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Providing friendly, gracious, motivated, detail oriented, and responsive service to create a memorable experience for guests Preparing food served following standard recipes and special diet orders; portioning food for serving Storing food properly and safely by marking dates and items Prepping food as needed/directed Complying with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards; observing proper food preparation and handling techniques Working as a team with all personnel in order to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service Working with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to the Company's standards at all times Washing and sanitizing glasses behind bar, and dishware in kitchen; restocking clean serving ware Removing trash and garbage to dumpster Cleaning aspects of the kitchen area as directed Filling, using, and emptying three compartment sinks with cleaning and sanitizing solutions Sweeping/mopping floors Sweeping up trash around exterior of brewery, patio and garbage dumpster Performing general restaurant and restroom cleaning and restocking as directed Wiping up any spills to ensure floors remain dry Bussing and cleaning tables between customers Delivering food and items ordered by guests without delay Clearing the dishes/glasses as they are consumed Maintaining the outside patio, bussing dishes and classes, clearing tables and keeping the space clean and friendly Safely closing the patio as directed by bartender and ensuring it is clean Serving beer, wine, and cider, inputting orders into the POS Performing cleaning side work as assigned Works under the supervision of the lead bar staff; and the owners Supports the brewery in other duties as required Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Previous food service experience strongly preferred A high school diploma or equivalent preferred Must be 21 years of age CA Food Handler Card & RBS certified Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less High energy and stamina are required Ability to stay calm and work efficiently under pressure Ability to prioritize job duties and manage time effectively Strong verbal communication skills required Excellent customer service to treat patrons like family The ability to read menus, safety documents, etc. The ability to use the company's POS system Two recent references we can call Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. They are on their feet much of the time. Kitchen staff and barbacks must work well under pressure and exercise tact and patience when dealing with other employees and customers. The average work week is 14 hours with the possibility of additional hours during busy seasons, special events, or staff coverage. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk with heavy trays (up to 50 pounds). The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific sensory abilities required by this job include sight, taste, smell, and hearing. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. This position is part of the tip pool. The pay rate is $18.57/hour but including tips, it is typically closer to $25 an hour.
