Job Description
Job Summary The Kitchen Assistant supports Food Lab classes and events by ensuring the kitchen is clean, organized, and ready for use. This role does not involve cooking but is essential to the flow of each class. Responsibilities include setup, dishwashing, cleanup, assisting guests with beverages, and maintaining a safe, sanitary environment. The Kitchen Assistant works closely with Chef Instructors and Lead Instructors to support guest experience, hospitality, and Food Lab's operational standards. Job DescriptionOverview The Kitchen Assistant provides support that allows Chef Instructors to focus on teaching and guest engagement. This role handles class setup, assists with service needs during classes, and ensures proper breakdown and cleaning afterward. By maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment, the Kitchen Assistant contributes directly to Food Lab's high standards of hospitality and brand consistency. Essential Skills Hospitality & Guest Support Friendly, approachable demeanor with a willingness to help guests. Ability to assist with beverages, service needs, and general class support. Commitment to Food Lab's guest-first philosophy. Organization & Cleaning Strong attention to detail in setting up stations, cleaning equipment, and keeping the kitchen tidy. Ability to work quickly and efficiently during class turnover. Understanding of sanitation and food safety basics Teamwork & Reliability Works well under the direction of Chef Instructors Reliable, punctual, and able to adapt to changing needs during events. Positive attitude and willingness to pitch in wherever needed. Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesClass Setup & Support Assist with class setup, including placing ingredients, tools, and equipment. Greet and assist guests with beverages or other hospitality needs. Ensure the kitchen and guest areas are clean and organized before class begins. During Class Support instructors and guests with small needs (refilling water, clearing dishes, replacing tools). Keep dishwashing and cleaning ongoing so stations remain functional. Be attentive and responsive to guest needs while maintaining a professional atmosphere. Cleanup & Organization Wash dishes, sanitize surfaces, and reset the kitchen after each class. Help put away equipment, tools, and supplies in an organized manner. Maintain Food Lab's cleanliness and safety standards at all times.
