This is a hands-on, customer-facing kitchen position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in their work, and has the communication and leadership skills to help drive a busy service. Our grill sits at the center of an open kitchen, so this role is about more than cooking burgers. You'll be visible to customers throughout service, so hospitality, communication, cleanliness, and professional presentation are all important parts of the position. When we get busy, the Grill Lead helps set the pace — reading the flow of orders, communicating with assembly and front counter, keeping the grill organized, maintaining DJ's standards, and helping the team stay composed and moving. What You'll Do Cook our cast-iron smash burgers consistently to DJ's standards Work quickly and efficiently during high-volume rushes Help lead and orchestrate the flow of service from the grill Communicate with assembly, front counter, and other team members Interact with customers in our open-kitchen environment Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked grill station Help maintain consistency, quality, and ticket times Set a positive pace and lead by example during service Learn and follow DJ's cooking systems and procedures Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who: Moves with urgency and enjoys working at a fast pace Stays calm and communicates clearly during a rush Is dependable and shows up ready to work Takes pride in consistency and quality Is comfortable interacting with customers Maintains a clean, professional, and presentable appearance while working in our open kitchen Takes pride in personal hygiene, uniform cleanliness, and keeping their station clean and organized Takes initiative without needing constant direction Works well as part of a team Has strong attention to detail Has the potential and desire to take on greater responsibility as DJ's grows Restaurant or grill experience is preferred, but attitude, speed, reliability, communication, and willingness to learn are extremely important to us. Pay & Schedule Starting pay: $18.00 per hour + tips Full-time position with approximately 35-40 hours per week . Tips are additional and vary based on sales and hours worked. There is opportunity for increased responsibility and compensation as you master our grill system and become a key part of the team. About DJ's DJ's Cast Iron Burgers started as a small pop-up in Gainesville and has grown into a food truck and brick-and-mortar restaurant. We specialize in thin, crispy smash burgers cooked on cast iron, hand-cut fries, and doing the little things that make simple food great.
