Job Description

4 day 10hr shifts 3 days off Wed 2p-7p Thurs-Sat 8a-7p Provides oversight of kitchen operations at St. Francis while on duty. Ensures compliance with all food handling and regulatory standards and requirements. Ensures proper preparation and presentation of meals.
Qualifications, Experience and Abilities:
  • As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values and philosophy of St. Augustine Society, Inc. and be driven by the mission of the organization with a commitment to working with persons in housing crisis and disconnected populations
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Managers, staff and volunteers
  • Always maintain strict client and staff confidentiality
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field and a current Safe Serve Certification preferred
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must pass drug screen

  • Physical demands : sitting, walking, lifting up to 30 pounds independently, reaching, carrying, speaking, listening
  • Work environment : an environment of high stress and fast pace of crisis intervention.
Protocol for safety and security is a priority. Use of phones, in person assistance, computer, fax and other general office machinery Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct supervision of kitchen help to ensure the appropriate food handling requirements are met. Analyze current supplies and plan menus accordingly Purchase food, beverage or kitchen supplies if required while remaining aware of budgetary concerns Ensure all safe food handling procedures are followed by staff and volunteers when on duty. Ensure all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection an by following preventive maintenance plans Oversee and ensure the government health and food service regulations are being adhered to when on duty. Work with the volunteer Coordinator to orient and train volunteers that will be working in the kitchen Determine the quality of food and beverages received while on duty. Ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner by monitoring preparation methods and portion sizes. Develop respectful and polite relationships with our clients while maintaining appropriate boundaries and following SFH policies. Participate in all aspects of meal planning and preparation.
