Job Description

Upper body strength, muscular endurance, and cardiovascular endurance to perform very heavy work. Staff must be able to lift over 20 pounds multiple times a day. Senior Citizens Inc. is currently looking for a full-time cook for our Meals on Wheels Kitchen.
Job duties and responsibilities include:
Prepare food for cooking by washing, cutting, slicing, etc. in accordance with approved recipes. Cook food in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served. Washes and sanitizes dishes and utensils. Pack meals in containers for transportation to various city locations. Receive supplies and keeps records of temperatures and inventory. Works as part of the food service team. It is important that this position maintains excellent safety practices and utilizes proper lifting techniques. Provide excellent customer service to both external and internal customers. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Experience High School diploma or GED required. Prior experience in institutional cooking environment required. Ability to read, write and speak English required. Must be able to communicate with both verbal and written instructions required. Strong math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division required. Cooks must be able to understand and follow oral instructions. This position is required to pass a pre-employment and annual physical. These physicals include testing for drug use. Physical activity includes, but is not limited to: balancing, climbing, crouching, dialing, driving, feeling, holding, grasping, handling, hearing, holding, kneeling, lifting, opening, reaching (below waist, waist to shoulder, above shoulder), repetitive wrist motions, seeing, sitting, standing, stooping, talking, walking, and writing. Ability to exert pressure in excess of 100 pounds of force Ability to read and write.
Pay:
From $15.00 per hour
