Job Description

Sushi Helper Responsibilities Assist Sushi Chefs with daily food preparation and sushi station setup. Prepare ingredients used for sushi, including rice, vegetables, garnishes, sauces, and other components. Assist with preparing sushi items such as maki, nigiri, and sashimi under the direction of a Sushi Chef. Portion, organize, label, and properly store ingredients according to food safety and quality standards. Prepare sushi rice, including cooking, seasoning, cooling, and holding it properly for service. Assist with adding appropriate garnishes, sauces, and accompaniments such as ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. Follow recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines to ensure consistent food quality. Assist with preparing appetizers, soups, salads, and other menu items as assigned. Communicate with Sushi Chefs and other kitchen team members regarding guest modifications, special requests, and food allergies. Monitor ingredient levels and notify the Sushi Chef or manager when products need to be restocked. Keep the sushi station clean, organized, and properly stocked throughout the shift. Follow all food safety, sanitation, personal hygiene, and cross-contamination prevention procedures. Properly clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, cutting boards, work surfaces, and the sushi station at the end of the shift. Assist with additional kitchen preparation and cleaning responsibilities as needed. Work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Requirements & Skills Previous sushi experience needed. Sushi or Asian restaurant experience is a plus. Willingness to learn sushi preparation techniques and food presentation standards. Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work quickly, accurately, and as part of a team. Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
