Position Summary:
The Kitchen Aide assists with meal preparation, packaging, and service for senior nutrition programs. Responsibilities include preparing home-delivered meal packages, monitoring food temperatures, serving meals at the senior center, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment while following USDA dietary guidelines and food safety standards
Schedule:
Full-time:
32 hours per week Monday-Thursday, typically between 6:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Essential Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Meal Service Assist with sealing, wrapping, and packaging home-delivered and shelf-stable meals. Monitor and document food temperatures to ensure food safety compliance. Count and pack milk and food items into carriers. Use ice packs and cooling methods to maintain proper food temperatures. Serve breakfast and lunch to senior center participants. Measure and portion food accurately according to program requirements. Safety & Sanitation Follow all organizational safety and security procedures. Report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions promptly. Use proper lifting techniques and equipment safely. Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection-control practices. Safely operate kitchen equipment and tools. Support a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications:
Required High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and program participants. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position. Preferred Food Safety Certification (ServSafe or equivalent), or willingness to obtain certification within six months of hire. Knowledge of USDA Dietary Guidelines and food safety practices. Physical Requirements Lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 35 pounds. Stand, walk, sit, bend, and stoop for extended periods. Perform repetitive tasks such as meal packaging and food handling. Safely use kitchen equipment, tools, and cleaning supplies. Work Environment Kitchen, meal preparation, and senior center settings. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures from kitchen equipment and food storage areas. Frequent handwashing and compliance with food safety standards.
