What You'll Do:
Kitchen Responsibilities Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks following menus created by the Food Program Director. Portion meals according to age-specific requirements and CACFP nutrition guidelines. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen by washing dishes, utensils, cookware, and food preparation equipment. Clean and sanitize food preparation surfaces, appliances, and kitchen equipment each day. Properly label, store, and rotate food items to ensure freshness and prevent contamination. Monitor inventory levels, restock supplies, and communicate ordering needs to management. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature control procedures to meet health and licensing standards. Facility Responsibilities Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, the cafeteria, kitchen, staff lounge, and other common areas. Sweep, vacuum, mop, and disinfect floors and frequently touched surfaces. Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure waste is disposed of properly. Assist with laundry and other housekeeping tasks as needed. Help maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly environment throughout the facility. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to management. Qualifications Experience in food service, kitchen operations, housekeeping, custodial work, or a related field (preferred). A solid understanding of food safety, sanitation, and cleaning best practices. Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail. The ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work efficiently in a structured environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A dependable, self-motivated, and professional work ethic. A genuine willingness to support children, families, and fellow team members in a childcare setting. Additional Requirements Ability to pass all required State of Michigan background checks. Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification after hire. Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, reaching, and carrying supplies.
