We partner with other organizations to host camps for youth and adults with identified needs such as autism, heart disease, skin conditions, Down syndrome, burn survivors and youth experiencing homelessness. Our beautiful, updated 30-acre campus is nestled between the pristine waters of Lower Whitefish and Big Trout lakes. Open year-round, our modern facilities and beautiful north-woods setting make us the perfect location for retreats, conferences, social gatherings, meetings or training events September through May. Camp Knutson is a service of Lutheran Social Service MN (LSS). Position pays $16-$18/hr, depending on qualifications. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of food and other aspects of kitchen/dining operations that lead to an excellent food service experience for all campers, staff, volunteers, and other visitors to enjoy. at Camp Knutson.

This includes:

Food preparation including but not limited to prepare, pan and cook food as directed, set up salad bar, and restocking supplies. Assist with dietary needs of guests with special diets. Clean up following meal will include properly storing and labeling all food. Cleaning dishes and kitchen includes but not limited to cleaning flat surfaces after every meal, pots, pans and food dishes, removal of garbage and sweep and mop the floors.

Minimum Requirements:

Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner Understand and utilize Food Safety skills Be able to mark / label foods properly Ability to follow basic recipes, use measurement tools when appropriate Utilize good problem solving and customer service skills Demonstrate knowledge and skill in assigned job duties under training, guidance, supervision of Food Service Managers LSS is a dynamic social service organization serving children, youth and families, people with disabilities, older adults and military veterans.
