Job Summary Chick'n Chaos is hiring Restaurant Flex Team Members for our fast-paced counter-service fried chicken and fish restaurant in Independence. This flexible position supports the restaurant in different areas depending on the shift's needs. Flex Team Members may work the counter, take customer orders, process payments, pack takeout orders, support food preparation and fryer operations, stock supplies, clean work areas, and help the team during busy periods. This role is a good fit for applicants seeking supplemental income, a second job, extra work hours, flexible restaurant work, or an opportunity to gain food-service experience without committing to a fixed full-time schedule. It is also suitable for applicants who want to be considered for more hours or a regular part-time or full-time position as the restaurant grows. Duties Greet customers and provide friendly, fast, and accurate counter service. Take customer orders accurately through the restaurant POS system. Process cash, credit-card, and digital payments correctly. Pack, check, and hand off takeout, pickup, and delivery-platform orders. Confirm orders include the correct chicken, fish, sides, sauces, drinks, utensils, napkins, packaging, and receipt. Support food preparation, breading, frying, seasoning, portioning, and food assembly as trained. Follow restaurant recipes, food-quality standards, portion sizes, holding procedures, and presentation standards. Safely operate fryers, warmers, food-prep equipment, and cleaning equipment after training. Restock sauces, cups, bags, napkins, utensils, packaging, drinks, condiments, and other supplies. Maintain cleanliness in the counter area, kitchen, workstations, floors, customer areas, restrooms, dish area, and trash stations. Follow food-safety, sanitation, handwashing, temperature-control, and cross-contamination procedures. Assist with opening duties, shift changeovers, rush support, closing duties, stocking, dishwashing, and cleaning when scheduled. Communicate with team members to keep orders moving quickly and accurately. Notify the shift lead or owner about low inventory, equipment problems, customer concerns, cash issues, food-safety concerns, or safety hazards. Perform other restaurant tasks assigned based on the needs of the business. Requirements Restaurant, fast-food, counter-service, retail, customer-service, cashier, food-prep, or kitchen experience is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn more than one station, including counter service, packing, food prep, fryer support, stocking, and cleaning. Ability to work quickly and accurately in a busy restaurant environment. Friendly customer-service attitude and ability to work well with a team. Ability to handle cash, credit-card payments, POS orders, and basic order calculations accurately. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift supplies, and work in a kitchen environment for the length of a scheduled shift. Ability to follow food-safety, sanitation, uniform, attendance, and restaurant procedures. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance. Availability for a mix of daytime, evening, weekday, and weekend shifts based on the availability provided by the applicant. Food-handler certification or food-safety knowledge is a plus; training may be provided. Flexible scheduling This is a variable-hours position. Chick'n Chaos schedules Flex Team Members based on customer volume, restaurant sales, employee availability, coverage needs, call-outs, and business operations. This position does not guarantee a specific number of hours each week. Some weeks may have more available shifts than others. Employees seeking supplemental income, additional income alongside another job, limited work hours, or flexible scheduling are encouraged to apply. Employees may be offered additional shifts when they are available. Once an employee accepts a scheduled shift, they are expected to report on time and complete the assigned shift. Introductory period All new hires begin with a 60-day introductory period. During this time, Chick'n Chaos evaluates attendance, reliability, guest service, food safety, order accuracy, teamwork, speed, cleaning, and ability to learn multiple stations. Employees who demonstrate strong performance and reliable availability may be considered for more hours, regular part-time roles, full-time opportunities, kitchen cross-training, or shift-lead development as the business grows.Pay:
