Job Description
The Whistle Stop is hiring dependable Flexible Kitchen Team Members to join our fill-in team. This position is perfect for high school students (16+), college students, retirees, or anyone looking to earn extra income without committing to a regular weekly schedule. Hours vary based on business needs. Shifts are offered to help cover employee call-offs, vacations, busy weekends, holidays, special events, and seasonal rushes. While there are no guaranteed hours, this is a great opportunity to earn extra income, gain restaurant experience, and become part of a fun, hardworking team. Many of our regular part-time and full-time team members start in fill-in roles, making this a great way to get your foot in the door with Whistle Stop. What You'll Do As a cross-trained kitchen team member, you'll be trained to assist in multiple areas of the restaurant, including:
- Preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items
- Working the fryer, grill, and pizza oven
- Building sandwiches, wraps, salads, and sides according to recipes
- Plating and packaging dine-in, carryout, drive-thru, and delivery orders
- Taking drive-thru and phone orders
- Running food to guests when needed
- Assisting with food prep and stocking
- Washing dishes and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen
- Following food safety and sanitation standards
- Jumping in wherever needed to support the team during busy shifts What We're Looking For
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Dependable and punctual
- Willingness to learn multiple kitchen stations
- Team player who enjoys helping wherever needed
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Friendly and professional when interacting with guests
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
