Restaurant Cook

The Hive is seeking passionate and dynamic Cooks to join our opening team! As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing assigned dishes to standard by following recipes, ensuring food quality and presentation, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. As well, you are responsible for collaborating with other kitchen staff for efficient service.

General Responsibilities:

• Basic cooking skills and knife skills
• Understanding of cooking methods (e.g., sautéing, grilling)
• Experience with various kitchen equipment
• Prep from scratch while utilizing local ingredients
• Run individual stations
• Open and close the kitchen while upholding standards
• Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards

Food Safety and Planning:

• Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of the kitchen and dining areas
• Ensures compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances
• Upholds all ServeSafe standards
• Estimate food and beverage needs to accurately prep station

Personnel:

• Must take constructive criticism and direction from supervisors openly and without judgement
• Must communicate openly and effectively with others at all times

Qualifications:

• At least a high school diploma or equivalent, along with practical cooking experience, either through previous roles or formal training
• Culinary school certificate or degree preferred but not required
• 3-5 years of practical experience

Personal Requirements:

• Self-discipline, initiative, and leadership ability
• Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance
• Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of orders and dishes
• Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff

Working Conditions:

• Hours may vary, but a minimum of 36 hours a week is expected for full time employment
• Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting products and supplies weighing 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion
• Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipments as well as work with phones, computers, and other office equipment

Pay:

From $18.00 per hour
