Kitchen support staff are responsible for working with the Head Cook to properly prepare meals, taking special care for people with allergies or dietary restrictions. Support staff will handle basic food preparation, as well as cleaning and food storage tasks. Support staff report to your shift lead.
Qualifications:
Desire and ability to work with youth in a camp setting.
Knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving, and kitchen procedures.
Knowledge of sanitation and safe food storage.
Ability to safely and properly use kitchen equipment. Valid Oregon Food Handler Card.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
Assist with all jobs associated with meal preparation including:
Wash, peel vegetables and fruitsPrepare poultry and meatsPrepare breadsStir and strain soups and vegetablesUse weights and measuresMove frozen products to refrigeration units as directed for thawing times and use.
Store items in the pantry, walk-in and freezer as needed to maintain food quality.
Keep the pantry, walk-in and freezer neatly stocked, rotating old stock to the front and new stock to the back.
Wash dishes, glasses, silverware and all utensils and pans used for each meal using approved sanitary methods. Assist to serve meals buffet or family style.
For family style meals ensure that all items that are to be pre-set on tables, such as milk pitchers, cereal or other items are available when the group arrives to set up. Maintain a courteous professional attitude with campers, staff and adult guests.
Other Job Duties:
Attend training and staff meetings as required.
Assist staff and team as needed in other areas of facility operations such as housekeeping and janitorial duties.
