Job Description

Training start from $13 per hour The Sushi Helper is part of the culinary team and assures quality food products are prepared and made to specifications with sanitary food handling practices at all times for the respective Sushi Chef. Responsible for cooking all prepared food to the specifications of the Sushi Chef. Preferred have at least 1 year of Sushi Helper Experience.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
This job/class works under close supervision according to set procedures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains and supports a positive, collaborative culture within the organization as a whole, fully embracing the culture and values statements
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with guests and co-workers.
- As needed to accomplish the task in the respective food in the cooking line.
- Select fresh fruits and vegetables to make high-quality dishes (like avocado, mango, and carrots).
- Arrives daily per published and posted scheduled on respective workdays and ready to work with proper attitude and uniform.
- Manage food prep activities.
- Coordinate with sushi chefs or supervisors that respective areas in their sushi area.
- Coordinate and works under the direction of the sushi chef/supervisor and communicate daily.
- Responsible for maintaining top-quality cleanliness in all kitchen operations.
- Works with sushi chef/supervisor to adapt and address any special event preparations as directed by the sushi chef/supervisor.
- Maintain hygiene principles in all cooking areas and clean your space at the end of the shift.
- Communicates any repair issues to the sushi chef/manager/supervisor.
- Assures safe food handling and food preparation.
- Works with sushi chef/supervisor as it relates to preparation and cooking of any food items.
- Ensure that all daily checklists are fully completed by and communicated to sushi chef/supervisor staff including opening, mid-shift, and closing responsibilities.
- Assures that all products are prepared correctly per specification without deviation before any product is presented to the front-of-house staff for presentation to guests.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of the restaurant per Employee Handbook and posted policies and procedures.
- Meets with sushi chef/supervisor as needed and performs other duties as requested by sushi chef/supervisor or the owner.
- Attends all scheduled shift service lineups and meetings.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties and special projects as requested by the supervisor.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED- Required Culinary training from the accreted culinary institute

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Posses great knife skills
- Preferred
- Kitchen experience or other closely related experience
- strongly preferred
- Fine Dining experience or closely related experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Proficiency in kitchen equipment, machines, and utensils.
