Job Description
This position is responsible for assisting with the preparation of meals in the Second Harvest Food Bank Community Kitchen, which prepares meals for the federal nutrition programs year-round—required to complete Food Safety training, along with any additional certifications as required. Adheres to food safety and sanitation regulations. Maintains kitchen cleanliness and sanitation. Assists with food production and collecting required documentation. Ideal skills will include strong customer service, people management, fostering teamwork, giving self-motivation with a high energy level, conflict resolution, and strong verbal communication. Must follow directions with attention to detail. Duties Assist with daily operations, including food preparation, cleaning, and meal delivery. Ensure compliance with health, fire, and AIB regulations, as well as state and federal food handling standards. Follow kitchen policies on safety, cleanliness, and food preparation. Prepare meals, ensuring proper storage temperatures and using updated recipes in accordance with CACFP and SFSP regulations. Participate in required ongoing training for CACFP and SFSP programs. Support the Federal Nutrition Programs Manager in program execution and oversight. Deliver meals to community partners, manage documentation, and ensure food safety in storage and transportation. Provide daily compliance documentation to the Federal Nutrition Programs Manager. Assist in training partners on CACFP and SFSP programs and manage menu updates for compliance. Maintain confidentiality of participant information. Use equipment safely and report any safety hazards immediately. Foster positive relationships with staff, clients, and volunteers while maintaining a professional appearance.
