About the Black Cat Coffeehouse The Black Cat is an Ashland instution that has been a thriving since 1995. We serve fair trade, farm-focused coffee and from scratch food to our community 7 days a week. The Black Cat is an LGBTQ friendly work environment. Job Overview The Black Cat Coffeehouse is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Kitchen Team Members to join their culinary team. This role is essential in ensuring that our kitchen operates efficiently and that our guests receive exceptional service. As a Kitchen Team Member, you will play a vital role in dishwashing, food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting the overall kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment. Earn tips in addition to base wage. Duties Support the team with various tasks including bussing tables, cleaning dishes, running food to tables, and organizing kitchen supplies. Assist in food preparation and cooking under the guidance of the head chef or kitchen manager. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen operations. Ensure that all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained properly. Provide excellent customer service by assisting with any special requests or dietary needs from guests. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service during peak hours. Follow recipes and presentation specifications to ensure consistency in food quality. Experience Previous experience in a culinary or restaurant environment is preferred but not required. Familiarity with food safety standards and practices is a plus. Skills in food preparation and cooking techniques are highly valued. Strong focus on customer service and hospitality. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy kitchen setting. A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new skills in the culinary field.
