Job Summary:
The Swim Lesson Instructor will teach swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to all individuals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Teaches swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities. 2) Assists more experienced swimmers to enhance swimming abilities. 3) Assess the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly. 4) Monitors students to prevent accidents and injuries. 5) Implements ground rules for each swim session. 6) Plans swimming lessons that take into account students' abilities and progressive development. 7) Identifies incorrect swimming techniques and corrects accordingly. 8) Responsible for upholding Cabot Parks and Recreation policies and procedures, as well as ordinances set forth by the City of Cabot. 9) Provide customer service to patrons, including handling customer problems and complaints. 10) Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1) American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification required at time of hire. 2) American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred. 3) USA Swim Coaches Certification preferred, but not required. 4) Must be at least 16 years of age
Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Needed:
1) Ability to understand, follow, and carry out oral and written instructions. 2) Some knowledge of the methods, materials, practices, techniques, and equipment needed to operate a concession facility and an entrance gate. 3) Ability to deal courteously with the public and employees; ability to execute sound judgment. 4) Attendance at work and the ability to get along with the public, commission, supervisors, and co-workers are essential elements of this position. 5) Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to person and small group situations with customers, clients, the general public, and other employees of the organization.
