A Lifeguard watches swimming areas and provides for the safety of swimmers at pools, lakes and beaches. Maintains careful watch of people in the water, enforces safety rules at swimming places; rescues swimmers and treats accidents as needed.

Position Summary The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of students, families, and staff in and around the pool area by maintaining constant surveillance, preventing accidents, and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies. The Lifeguard also supports daily pool operations by maintaining a clean, organized facility and delivering exceptional customer service to families and guests. Essential Responsibilities Maintain continuous surveillance of swimmers and guests in and around the pool. Identify and respond immediately to unsafe behaviors or emergency situations. Administer first aid, CPR, AED, and water rescues when necessary until emergency personnel arrive. Enforce all pool rules, safety procedures, and SafeSplash policies. Ensure the pool deck remains safe, clean, organized, and free of hazards. Monitor class activity and provide support to swim instructors as needed. Assist with opening and closing pool procedures. Inspect rescue equipment and report safety concerns promptly. Complete incident and accident reports accurately and thoroughly. Maintain accurate attendance and communicate concerns to management. Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting families and assisting with questions. Maintain a professional appearance while following SafeSplash uniform standards. Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and emergency drills. Perform additional duties assigned by management. Qualifications Required Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or ability to obtain before employment). Current CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification or ability to obtain before employment . Strong swimming ability and successful completion of all lifeguarding prerequisites. Excellent observation skills and ability to remain alert throughout shifts. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively during emergencies. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 75 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, and work in a warm, humid pool environment for extended periods. Preferred Previous lifeguarding or aquatics experience. Experience working with children and families. Swim instruction experience. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
