THIS POSITION IS APPOINTIVE SERVICE/TEMPORARY REQUIREMENTS
: Two hundred and forty (240) hours of documented hands-on experience working as an ocean lifeguard.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
: Must complete the Brevard County Ocean Lifeguard Performance Test annually, which includes swimming 500 meters in an ocean environment and a physical agility test, in accordance with the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) Advanced Guidelines. Must complete the Brevard County Ocean Lifeguard Training Academy 16-Hour Refresher Course. Must possess or obtain by the completion of the Brevard County Ocean Lifeguard Training Academy, a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an approved agency and maintain said certification in an active status during the term of employment. Must possess or obtain by the completion of the Brevard County Ocean Lifeguard Training Academy, an Emergency Medical Responder certification from an approved agency and maintain said certification in an active status during the term of employment.
•Tryouts will be conducted weekly, and applicants must pre-register to request a testing slot. Once registered, an invitation with a time and pool location will be provided via email.
•In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-artificial disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed. $20.29 - 20.84 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Beachside/Countywide. Part-time/Temporary. Work schedule is variable and includes weekends and holidays. Performs experienced protective service work guarding the safety of patrons at assigned ocean beaches and provides information pertaining to beach and ocean conditions.
