Rotating shifts are 5:45am-Noon on weekdays, and 5:45am-Noon or Noon-6pm on Saturdays. Chatham County Government is seeking an experienced certified Head Lifeguard. Examples of Duties Provide a safe environment for swimming and enforce the rules and guidelines of the Chatham County Aquatic Center. Monitor the behavior and the activity in the pool and the surrounding areas. Respond to emergencies promptly. Provide explicit instruction to members using your customer service and communication skills. Participate in in-service training, maintain daily logs, and act as a Duty Manager in the absence of management. Open and close the facility. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, and At least one (1) year of lifeguard or swim instruction experience, or Three months of such experience at the Chatham County Aquatic Center; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience. Candidates under age 18 require one (1) year of experience as a Swim Instructor at the Chatham County Aquatic Center. Must possess the Red Cross Lifeguard certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Swim Instruction certification, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Supplemental Information This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing. During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing. Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
