ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In conjunction with Aquatics Director and Manager, provides administration and supervision of the aquatics staff, swimming pool and related areas per YMCA requirements. Provides emergency services when necessary. Coordinates or provides emergency coverage during scheduled work hours as needed assuring pools have a certified lifeguard on deck during all operating hours and after hour rentals. Responsible for assigning tasks to aquatics team members and resolving challenges that occur during scheduled work hours. Monitors daily pool operations during scheduled work hours to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Conducts pool chemical checks and maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels during scheduled work hours to ensure the safety of staff and members. Conducts lifeguarding and swim instruction in-services and tracks attendance. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to member and community inquiries and complaints that occur during scheduled work hours and communicates occurrences with the Aquatics Manager and Aquatics Director. Ensures all swim lesson participants are in the correct location for class and attendance is taken. Responsible for teaching swim lesson classes and guarding as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent. One to two years related experience preferred; for example, as a head lifeguard, swim coach, or other leadership role.
Requirements prior to start:
Lifeguard Certification; CPR Certification; First Aid Certification. Requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of New Staff Orientation; Bloodborne Pathogens; Child Abuse Prevention; Sexual Harassment Prevention; Active Shooter training; Slip Trip and Fall prevention; Hazardous Communications and Lifeguard Instructor Certification (within 90 days). Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. Minimum age of 18.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
