About the role Lifeguard (Part‑Time) HealthFitness is hiring Lifeguards to join the aquatics team at Harvard Recreation in Cambridge, MA . This part‑time role (10-15 hours per week) is a great fit for students or anyone looking for flexible hours in an active, team‑oriented environment. You'll help maintain a safe, welcoming pool area while supporting a vibrant campus community. Responsible for monitoring and ensuring a safe and friendly environment for all of the aquatic facility members and guests. Key Accountabilities Monitor and ensure safety and well-being of patrons using the aquatic facilities. Enforce and explain rules as necessary. Respond appropriately to any emergency. Perform chemical testing and documents results for three bodies of water and a hot tub four times a day. Attend all required staff meetings and training. Ensure that needs of the aquatic center are being met by folding towels; cleaning; filling water machines; and inspecting the Aquatics Facility to ensure safe environment for members. Maintain a professional attitude. Other duties as needed/assigned. Minimum Requirements Must be at least 15 years old. American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification. Meet HealthFitness Fitness and Skill standards. Be dependable, alert and able to interact with people of all ages in a positive manner with strong customer service skills. Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; and working knowledge of the member management system, databases, and tools. All lifeguards are required to perform a basic lifeguard skill test consisting of: 500 yard swim. Active, Passive, Submerged rescues. Spinal injury management in shallow and deep water. Other various techniques that were learned during the Lifeguard Training Program.
