Job Description

Boys and Girls Club of Metro South is hiring Lifeguards and Swim Instructors for our current school year and future school year at our Taunton Clubhouse pool! Are you a morning person? Apply for our morning shift! Monday - Friday 6:45 am - 11am Lifeguard position summary: The Lifeguard maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and surrounding areas and creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintains constant surveillance of the pool and the pool areas. Maintains current knowledge of all emergency procedures within the pool and pool area. Responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with BGC policies and procedures; provides timely and accurate reports and follow-ups. Knows, understands, and consistently applies health and safety rules, policies, guidelines for the pool and pool area. Conveys information on programs and schedules to members. Maintains accurate records required by BGC and state agencies. Perform equipment checks and ensure the availability of required equipment. Perform chemical testing as prescribed; take immediate corrective action as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Swim Instructor position summary:
The Swim Instructor provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares lesson plans and schedules classes. Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with approved guidelines. Selects, trains and supervises class aides. Develops positive relationships with participants; provide feedback on progress; provide motivational support. Encourages member and parent support and involvement; identifies potential volunteers. Communicates information on aquatics programs and schedules; refers members and participants. Maintains attendance records, progress reports, others. Maintain current knowledge of emergency and safety procedures; report incident and accident events in complete and timely manner. Examines and reports damaged or unusable equipment; identifies and reports unsafe conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum age of 16 CPR for the Professional Rescuer; AED; Basic First Aid Certifications. Current Certification YMCA Lifeguarding OR Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification. Ability to maintain certification level of physical and mental alertness. Exemplary communication skills (written and verbal) are needed, including the ability to present in front of large groups, interact with and motivate stakeholders, represent the organization at community events and meetings, and write professionally in emails, etc. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people (staff, families, youth, etc.) and a track record of building and sustaining meaningful relationships with individuals and teams from all socioeconomic backgrounds. Commitment to professionalism including high expectations and standards of quality, a strong work ethic and personal code of ethics, accountability, and dependability. Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective objectives for teams and individuals and take ownership for results. Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and empowerment. Willing to provide instruction during daily programming times and occasional night and weekend hours. This position does not provide for remote work options.

As outlined in BGCMS Training Academy upon hire or within allocated training timelines.

As outlined in BGCMS Training Academy upon hire or within allocated training timelines The pay scale is as follows with flexible schedules: Lifeguard 16yo - 17yo + $16/hr Lifeguard 18+ = $ 17/hr Swim Instructor (Non Lifeguard) = $15/hr - $17/hr
