Job Description

Do you enjoy climbing and working with others? Do you feel comfortable instructing climbing methods and ensuring a safe environment for every climber? If so, then please consider applying and joining the Boroughs Family Branch's team! Under the supervision of the Executive Director, Rock Wall Staff are responsible for supervising and maintaining a safe environment for all climbers.
Responsibilities:
Accept and demonstrate the positive values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Work with Rock Wall lead to keep climber logs up to date. Attend and participate in staff trainings and meetings. Maintain the Rock Wall in an orderly fashion and keep free of trash and garbage. Supervise classes and follow set curriculum. Observe and enforce all safety regulations. Learn the likes and dislikes of participants. Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving. Provide opportunities for the group so that each individual experiences success during their classes. Help each participant meet the goals established Supervise all assigned aspects of the camper's day including mealtime and the general camp program. Administer first-aid and CPR as necessary. Evaluate current session and make suggestions for following sessions. Support the mission of the YMCA of Central Massachusetts. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 17 years old High school graduate or equivalent or in the process of acquiring a diploma Current CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications or working towards certifications Experience in climbing or working at climbing centers preferred Must be able to work with children indoors and outdoors Must be able to assist in teaching climbing activity Must be patient, utilize self-control and flexible to new situations Must be enthusiastic, friendly and keep calm in stressful situations
