Job Description

YWCA Central Maine is searching for a hard-working, dependable individual to fill the part-time position of a certified Lifeguard. The Lifeguard plays a significant role in the overall success and safety of YWCA Health & Wellness Department activities. The Lifeguard position reports to the Health and Wellness Director. The position is part time up to 25 hours a week or full time up to 40 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Surveying the YWCA pool and conducting rescues to help weak or injured swimmers get to safety. Speaking with swimmers to enforce swimming rules. Keeping track of each swimmer in the water. Administering first aid to injured swimmers. Ensuring the safety of people in the swimming pool Explaining and enforcing safety rules. Using knowledge of first aid to save lives. Checking the safety of the area and keeping it clean. Maintains cleanliness of pool area for health and safety of patrons and staff
Requirements:
  • American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard with CPR for the Professional Rescuer
  • Must be able to work independently, have knowledge of safety protocols and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Must be 15 years of age The position is located at YWCA Central Maine in Lewiston.
Additional hours may be scheduled to meet the needs of lessons and classes. YWCA is an equal opportunity employer.
