Job Description
Hiring for the Remainder of Summer for 2026 and 26 - 27
Schoolyear:
The position is available for mornings only, afternoons only, or mornings and afternoons. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide care to summer program for children ages 5-6 at the Wells Location Provide care to before and after school program functions at the Wells Location Create a positive environment conducive to child development. Interact with children, act as a role model. Maintain all YMCA standards and rules. Be aware of all safety hazards. Implement first aid, CPR or AED training if necessary. Be sure to record all injuries. Ensure no distraction or interference with the delivery of daily activities. Be aware of the location of children at all times. Follow appropriate lesson plans (encourage positive learning) and enthusiastically facilitate activities. Incorporate YMCA core values in all lessons plans. Coordinate, assign, lead & supervise lesson plans / activities. Ensure safety and cleanliness of program area and equipment Attend staff meetings and trainings as required. Provide excellent service to members, children and parents. Perform other related duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS
- School age staff must be at least 16 years old.
- Previous work with children helpful.
- Staff must have current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED or obtain in first 30 days of employment (provided by the YMCA)
- Must be a mature individual with the ability to operate independently.
- Must have excellent human relation skills and ability to maintain positive communication with program participants, volunteers and staff.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must have ability to perceive audio & visual alerts for emergency purposes.
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to access all areas of building or off-site locations including pool areas, closets, stairwells, locker rooms, wellness center, etc
