POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for directing the aquatics program for the Squirrel Hill location, which includes Learn to Swim Classes, Competitive Swim Teams, Lifeguarding and related administrative duties. During the summer months, this position may work at various locations including JCC outdoor pools.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and implements strategies for the recruitment, hiring, training, and oversight of all year-round and seasonal lifeguards and instructors for Learn to Swim Classes. Oversees lifeguard department operations, including scheduling, payroll administration, performance management, and adherence to established protocols and procedures. Provides 6 hours of private lessons per week. Private swim lessons may be conducted outside of assigned work schedule. Ensures operations/permits are in compliance with regulations. Conducts regular staff training and certification courses. Ensures Squirrel Hill opening and closing procedures are followed. Develops policies and procedures for Early Childhood swim programs. Manages the Lead system and private swim program. Works closely with the Marketing Department to promote programs and events related to the Aquatics Department. Oversees and monitors department budget. Works closely with other departments to develop aquatics programs and activities. Works with the South Hill/Family Park Aquatics Coordinator for cohesive Agency best practices. Works effectively with other key JCC departments to provide effective and efficient service delivery. Ability to define problems, develop solutions, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to manage and balance a variety of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment under tight time constraints. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation or related field with at least three years experience in aquatics management.
