Overview The Aquatics Instructor will positively encourage students to explore and learn the skills needed to swim safely. This position will organize classes and guide students through swimming skill acquisition and objectives as outlines in the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program. Responsibilities Teaches swimming to children ages 6 months to 10 years primarily, adolescents, adults and toddlers may also be taught in classes designed for those age groups Encourage students to explore and learn the skill taught and advance students through class levels Communicates with parents and guardians of their student's providing information on what skills are being taught, how the student is progressing and when the student is ready to advance to the next level of skills Assists in daily operations of aquatic facilities including opening, assisting guests, providing programming information and collecting fees Attends regularly scheduled training sessions and audits, demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to perform rescue, first aid, and emergency response skills during scheduled or random audits Assist in the daily operations of aquatic facilities including cleaning and following risk management procedures Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

• High School Diploma/GED or Current High School Student
• No prior experience required
• Must be sixteen (16) years of age Certifications, Licenses or other requirements Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
• American Reed Cross Water Safety Instructor (Provided by the City before job assignment)
• American Red Cross Lifeguard (Provided by the City before job assignment) Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:
