Summer Lifeguard

Employees get a membership and buddy pass to Orem Fitness Center. Lifeguard (ages 15+): Responsible for monitoring the swimming pools at the Orem Fitness Center and SCERA Park Pools. Assisting or rescuing patrons in need of help and performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or administering first aid as necessary. Enforces pool rules and performs pool maintenance and custodial duties. Conducts and participates in safety and accident prevention programs. Provides instruction to participants in beginning to advanced swimming techniques and skills. Keeps records, prepares written reports, assists with special events and swim meets. Performs other duties as assigned. Must possess and maintain a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate with current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (City is willing to provide free certification based on passing minimum skills requirement reach out to vsamaniego@orem.gov for questions). Lifeguards must have the ability to communicate with people of all ages. Applicants must be in compliance with Recreation Department dress, personal appearance policy. The successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and will be subject to random drug testing. Pay starts at $13. Shifts available Mon-Sat 5am-11pm Applicants should submit their application online or to the Human Resources office.
