Job Description

Job Title:
Manager Reports to:
General Manager Summary:
Oversees the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School. This encompasses all daily operations including safety, staffing, pool operations, swim lesson quality, customer service, and workplace employee activities amongst other duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 1. Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running according to GSS standard operating procedures. 2. Helps the General Manager and department managers fulfill all daily tasks. 3. Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction. 4. Initiates and oversees workplace employee activities with the goal of achieving improved employee satisfaction. 5. Trains and oversees the aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS. 6. Interacts with all wet side staff on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service, employee performance and training. 7. Interacts with the Deck Supervisors and Golden Teachers on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service and employee performance and training. 8. Provides sales and marketing training to all qualified sales staff. 9. Provides direction in the retail and vending departments to ensure a proper mix of products and pricing is achieved. 10. Trains and oversees private party staff to ensure that the GSS standard operating procedures are being maintained. 11. Troubleshoot the mechanical room as necessary. 12. Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pool operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment. 13. Development of wet side staff. 14. Ensures the highest level of swim lesson quality. 15. Directs, trains, maintains and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and all safety procedures that pertain to the GSS facility and EAP. 16. Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.
Safety Standards:
The safety of our swimmers, parents and team members is of the utmost importance. Goldfish Swim School follows all CDC and WHO safety standards along with following any local guidelines. In addition here are some additional safety precautions and procedures we follow:
  • Every shift has an on-staff cleaner to sanitize high touch areas in our lobby and pool areas.
  • Our pools are disinfected with chlorine to provide the safest swimming environment
  • The CDC states that proper operation, maintenance and disinfection of the water with chlorine should remove or inactivate the virus
  • Our state-of-the-art ventilation system allows fresh air to continuously circulate into our building, further minimizing the spread of any airborne virus.
  • Industry experts note that indoor pools are far superior at minimizing virus transmission than most indoor spaces.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or childcare provider required. Two or more years as a swimming instructor is preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:
Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Certified Pool Operator certification required. Lifeguard Instructor certification highly recommended.
Work Environment:
While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate
Schedule:
Full time position. Scheduled days will vary. Will require nights, weekends and some holidays.
Paid Time Off:
2 weeks paid vacation.

New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Pioneer Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day Additional Days Off:
Each year, the new calendar will be put out with regards to closures. Additional days off surrounding holidays is possible. Typically, there are additional days off around the Christmas holiday and Independence Day. Goldfish Swim School-East Salt Lake reserves the right to conduct background investigations, credit checks, and/or reference checks on all of its potential employees. Your job offer, therefore, is contingent upon a clearance of such a background investigation and/or reference check.
Pay:
From $21.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
