Lifeguard Certification Full Job Description The Position:
This Is The Place Heritage Park is seeking friendly, responsible, and safety-focused individuals to serve as Waterfront Lifeguards for our canoeing experience. Lifeguards help create a safe, enjoyable environment for guests by supervising the waterfront, assisting guests as they enter and exit canoes, monitoring water safety, and maintaining the canoe area. This position plays an important role in providing an excellent guest experience while ensuring the safety of all participants. Waterfront Attendants report to the Village Managers.
Responsibilities:
  • Set up and close the canoeing experience each day.
  • Welcome guests and provide a friendly introduction to the activity.
  • Assist guests with safely entering and exiting canoes.
  • Monitor the waterfront continuously and remain prepared to respond to emergencies.
  • Enforce all waterfront rules and safety procedures in a courteous and consistent manner.
  • Track canoe usage and help maintain an orderly flow of guests.
  • Keep the canoe dock, equipment, and surrounding area clean and organized.
  • Answer guests' questions about the canoeing experience and the Park.
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, or equipment issues promptly.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Current lifeguard certification required (or ability to obtain certification before employment begins, if applicable).
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergency situations.
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including direct sunlight.
  • Able to lift and carry canoes and other equipment as needed.
  • Canoeing or boating experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing required background checks.
Schedule:
  • Minimum availability of 3 days per week
  • Typical shift: 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. Half day shifts are not available.
  • Must be available to work some Saturdays
  • Seasonal position through the end of October.
