  • does not need to be all 5 days) The Kirk Family YMCA is looking for self-motivated and mission driven candidates to join our part-time Lifeguarding Staff.
These candidates must possess an outgoing personality, a positive attitude, and a willingness to serve our members. Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of swimmers and for the enforcement of all pool rules and regulations. Ideal candidates will be able to maintain a safe and fun environment, perform general maintenance tasks and provide a positive member experience for all.
Responsibilities include:
Keep CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen and Lifeguard Certifications valid. Prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulations and ordinances. Utilize appropriate rescue techniques and follow up procedures. Maintain/clean the pool deck area and Aquatic equipment. Report potential physical hazards and unsafe conditions to Supervisor. Check, records and maintain pool chemical levels every 3 hours. Notify Aquatics Director of any problems. Maintain a record of the number of swimmers using the facility. Open and/or close the pool at scheduled times. Proper positioning at assigned locations around the pool for maximum visibility. Curtail misuse of the facility and enforce pool rules in a positive way. Perform swim test for children. Attend monthly in-services as well as team member meetings. Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment/Physical/Mental Demands:
Remain alert for long periods of time with little mental stimulation Able to lift 50 pounds Sit for extended period of time Hear noise and distress signals with background noise Operate alone without other lifeguard support Communicate verbally including projecting voice across distances
Qualifications:
Must be at least 15 years old Current Lifeguard certification Have and maintain current CPR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen administration certifications.
