Job Description
Under general supervision, the Swim Instructor is responsible for providing swim lessons to students of all levels and abilities based on the American Red Cross (ARC) Learn-to-Swim standards and program requirements. The Swim Instructor reports to the Recreation Programs Supervisor. This position supervises patrons in group activities, but does not exercise supervision over other staff members. Instruct patrons in the specialized recreational activity of swim lessons. Interact with patrons. Perform other related job duties as assigned. Ability to : Effectively teach. Follow oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public. Distinguish varying levels of cleanliness and take necessary measures to ensure a clean environment (i.e. mopping, sweeping, hosing down, shoveling, window cleaning, vacuuming, polishing tables, etc.). Possess physical conditioning required to perform duties as an instructor in the specialized recreational activity. All instructor positions require the ability to effectively lead citizens in a comprehensive workout in the appropriate category.
