We're growing fast and building a grooming program focused on safety, quality, and a great client experience for both pets and their owners. Our mission is to treat dogs like family and provide a clean, positive space for them to thrive. We are seeking a responsible, compassionate, and hardworking On-Call Dog Handler / Room Attendant to join our pet care team. In this dual role, you will be responsible for supervising and engaging with dogs in playgroups, ensuring their safety and well-being, as well as maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in all animal care areas. The ideal candidate has a passion for animals, great observational skills, and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor dog playgroups to ensure safe and appropriate behavior. Read and interpret dog body language to manage group dynamics and prevent conflicts. Engage dogs in structured play and enrichment activities. Identify signs of illness, stress, or behavioral issues and report them promptly. Perform safe leash handling, feeding, and medication administration as needed. Communicate clearly with fellow staff and pet owners about dog behavior and care. Clean and disinfect play areas and other animal care spaces. Ensure food and water bowls, toys, and bedding are clean and properly stocked. Dispose of waste safely and according to facility guidelines. Monitor and maintain cleanliness of common areas. Maintain supply inventory and notify management when items are low.
Qualifications:
Prior experience working with dogs in a kennel, daycare, or veterinary setting is preferred. Ability to confidently assess and respond to dog behavior and body language. Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Reliable, punctual, and a team player with a positive attitude. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
Schedule & Availability:
On-Call Position :
Must be available to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays on short notice. Will be contacted as needed to fill shifts due to absences, increased demand, or special events.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
