PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
To clean and maintain all public areas which includes all restrooms, locker rooms, corridors, offices and food and beverage outlets. It is imperative that all public areas be kept in impeccable condition to achieve Langham's standards of quality, in addition to support the Shared Values of the Hotel.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES
  • Thoroughly clean sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, tiles, counters, walls, and stalls, vents and/or floors with appropriate cleaning supplies to all guest and employee bathrooms.
  • Adhere to cleaning procedures and instructions for use of cleaning supplies.
  • Sweep and mop all flooring, including front lobby stone floor.
  • Thoroughly dust all furniture, pictures, and shelves.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of public areas including, corridors and all hallways including back-of-the-house, employee stairwells, emergency stairwells, front drive areas, Accounting and Executive Offices, employee parking lot, and smoking areas.
  • Thoroughly clean and polish all metal surfaces, using appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Provide general public assistance, instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.
  • Handle guest request as needed such as delivering amenities or provide basic service to guest rooms.
  • Report all defects of the public areas to the Housekeeping Coordinator.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Physical activities include kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, bending, handling, feeling, reaching, stretching, grasping.
  • Requires repetitive motion of the hands, wrists, shoulders and back with repeated bending and stooping.
  • Ability to work alone in an established routine.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees, as well as guests.
  • Basic ability to comprehend English language sufficient to understand information such as labels and instructions and basic guest requests.
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Ability to: o Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
o Prioritize and organize. o Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment. o Follow directions thoroughly. o Understand guest's service needs. o Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team. o Work with constant supervision. o Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
