Job Description

General Summary:
To perform the day-to-day activities of the laundry and housekeeping in accordance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines, regulations that govern Bethany Lutheran Home and as may be required by the Director of Environmental Services to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Laundry Job Duties:
Collect and process all linens and clothing in appropriate washer/dryer. Check condition of linens and clothing for worn areas or holes and report or mend as necessary. Pick up soiled linens and clothing from each station. Hang finished items on hangers and place on personal rack or fold/stack personal items. Distribute garments to appropriate resident. Mark each garment with appropriate label to identify resident owner. Empty dryer filters. Keep area clean and orderly. Attend in-services as assigned or requested. Other duties as assigned.
Housekeeping Job Duties:
To ensure the facility maintains a clean and sanitary environment at all times.
Essential Job Functions:
Clean residents' apartments as scheduled. Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, ledges, common areas and offices. Sweep and mop all floors. Collect, remove and dispose of properly all trash from common areas and offices. Vacuum all carpeted areas and store vacuum properly. Dust all furniture. Follow all infectious control policies/OSHA. Ensure housekeeping carts are kept in a tidy manner and stored in the appropriate place. Use all products appropriately and safely. Attend mandatory staff meetings as required. Wear uniforms according to building policies. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have no record of abuse. Must be able to read and speak the English language in an understandable manner. One year experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day; push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 lbs. to a minimum of 3 ft. Must be able to kneel, stoop, bend, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to work with chemicals. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents in an emergency situation.
