Job Description

Caribou Medical Center is now hiring a Night Shift Housekeeper The Night Shift Housekeeper works under the general supervision of the Environmental Services (EVS) Manager. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner. Responsibilities may also include laundry operations such as collecting, washing, drying, ironing, and folding linens in accordance with established procedures and safety protocols. Core Responsibilities 1. Routine Daily Cleaning Follow all EVS Manager instructions and established procedures Clean and disinfect high-touch and high-dust surfaces Sanitize all horizontal surfaces, furniture, and fixtures Clean and disinfect equipment between rooms Dispose of contaminated materials per protocol Maintain and restock service carts and supply areas Follow infection control precautions, including proper PPE use Clean floors (dusting, mopping, waxing, buffing, and extraction as required) Empty wastebaskets and replace supplies (soap, tissues, paper towels) Replace sharps containers according to protocol 2. Patient Room Cleaning Clean and sanitize discharged patient rooms Disinfect beds, mattresses, and equipment Report damaged items or soiled curtains to EVS Manager 3. Isolation Room Cleaning Follow all isolation and bloodborne pathogen protocols Use required protective barriers and PPE Properly dispose of contaminated materials Disinfect cleaning equipment before reuse 4. Equipment & Supply Maintenance Clean and organize housekeeping carts and closets Maintain vacuum equipment and report supply needs 5. Project Work Clean windows, blinds, gurneys, and baseboards Perform deep-cleaning tasks as assigned 6. Medical Waste Handling Collect and transport medical waste safely Use proper protective equipment Notify EVS Manager when supplies are needed 7. Monthly Cleaning Deep clean patient areas including walls, floors, furniture, and curtains 8. Laundry Duties (as needed) Collect, sort, wash, disinfect, dry, iron, and fold laundry Deliver clean linens to appropriate departments Maintain a clean and sanitary laundry area 9. Additional Duties Perform other duties as assigned Responsibilities may change based on departmental needs Previous housekeeping and/or laundry experience in a healthcare setting Work Environment Hospital setting with frequent walking and physical activity Exposure to infectious materials, chemicals, and odors Interaction with patients, residents, and families, including potentially unpredictable situations
