•About the Role Chief Safety Solutions is seeking experienced overnight Environmental Services Technicians for a medical facility in the Chicago metro area. This is medical housekeeping with a floor care emphasis. Overnight is when the building is quiet enough to run machines, so this crew handles the hard floor and carpet work the day and evening shifts cannot, while also covering routine cleaning and any urgent request that comes in during the night. You will work alongside the facility's own overnight floor care team. This is not a solo assignment and it is not an office building. The work follows environmental safety and infection prevention protocols in an occupied medical facility. This role requires at least one year of medical housekeeping experience and hands-on floor machine experience. Applicants without both will not be considered. Shift Hours 3rd Shift 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. The facility operates seven days a week, 365 days a year. Weekend and Federal holiday coverage is part of the schedule. What You Will Do Strip, scrub, seal, wax, and burnish hard floors on a rotating schedule set by the facility Operate walk-behind and ride-on automatic scrubbers, burnishers, floor machines, wet vacs, and carpet extractors Shampoo and extract carpet, area rugs, and mats, and treat spots by the approved method Prepare and protect work areas before machine work: move furniture, post caution signage, and return everything to position on a dry surface Clean and disinfect restrooms, corridors, lobbies, offices, and other assigned areas during the night Clean and disinfect clinical and patient areas as assigned, following established environmental safety and infection prevention protocols Respond to overnight spills, blood and bodily fluid events, and urgent cleaning requests Service areas that cannot be taken out of use during the day Collect and transport trash, recycling, and regulated medical waste to designated collection points following facility procedure Complete daily documentation, including floor care and water-safety fixture flushing logs Interact courteously with clinical staff, night security, and any patients or visitors you encounter What You Need Required High school diploma or GED Minimum one (1) year of medical housekeeping or environmental services experience in a hospital, clinic, nursing home, or other medical facility Experience operating automatic floor scrubbers, burnishers, and carpet extractors Familiarity with environmental safety protocols, bloodborne pathogen procedures, infection control practices, isolation precautions, regulated medical waste handling, and medical cleaning requirements Customer service skills. You will work around clinical staff and occasionally patients and families, and are expected to be courteous, respectful, and professional at all times Highly dependable attendance.
