REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS
At least 1 year of cleaning and laundry experience Experience using and maintaining general cleaning equipment Ability to carry out a daily cleaning schedule without close supervision Experience working with commercial laundry equipment Sensitive to issues of aging, needs of the dementia resident/participant, and elder population Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to work as a team player, promoting good relations with co-workers and residents/participants Ability to communicate clearly to resident and staff Ability to be flexible with work assignments, other departments and schedule changes Ability to work well with geriatric population Awareness of safety and security issues Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and organizational skills Ability to do lifting of up to 75 lbs. Ability to perform repetitive functions such as reaching, folding garments, bedding, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General and cleaning of the building and operation of laundry facilities. Maintenance and safe operation of cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaners, carpet spotter, sweepers, washers, dryers, etc. Regularly clean or replace filter bags, lint filters, belts, etc. Recognize and report problems with equipment operation. Work closely with the Maintenance Assistant to carry out a vigorous cleaning schedule, and perform routine maintenance procedures. Maintain a high standard of safety, appearance and cleanliness at all times. Perform daily cleaning duties as well as unit turnovers (resident moves), function set up and other maintenance procedures as needed. Care will be taken to avoid washing "dry clean only" items. Attend educational programs as required. Communicate well with other staff to accomplish work. Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner. Monitor supply inventories and report needs to the Maintenance Assistant and other duties as assigned Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, cleaning of glass, dusting, policing of litter, general cleaning of all surfaces and fixtures Follow CDC guidelines as it relates to cleaning and sanitation throughout the day.
