Housekeeping Aide Duties and Responsibilities:

The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for the following: Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures. Assure that water marks are removed from fixtures. Clean windows/mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways. Clean floors, to include sweeping, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting in accordance with proper safety precautions. Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting. Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing. Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning/ disinfecting solutions. Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc. in resident rooms and common areas as instructed. Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators. Discard waste/trash into proper containers in accordance with established sanitation procedures and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner. Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored while working, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, mealtimes, and end of the work day. Assure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures. Use protective clothing/devices when performing tasks that involve the handling of infectious waste and/or blood/body fluids. Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and recreational areas.
