A Maid or Housekeeping Staff provides cleaning and housekeeping services, primarily for rooms and bathrooms in hotels and hospitals. May also work in private residences, office buildings, colleges, other institutions.
The Physical Plant at Marist University seeks applicants for a Housekeeper. Housekeepers perform professional custodial duties which include cleaning and routine maintenance of buildings, furniture and fixtures within academic, administrative, and dormitory facilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Six months of professional custodial experience.
Institutional housekeeping experience and the ability to clean with attention to detail.
Essential Functions:
Operates and maintains all cleaning equipment
Strips, wet mops, dust mops, and waxes floors
Washes walls, windows, glass partitions, and blackboards
Maintains and cleans washrooms
Polishes furniture and fixtures
Moves furniture from building to building as needed
Sets up and rearranges rooms for special events/functions
Removes all trash and other rubbish
Maintains recycling equipment
Vacuums and shampoos carpets
Removes and installs curtains/draperies
Receives and stores 55-gallon drums, paper supplies, and other housekeeping supplies
Responsible for assuring that areas found locked on arrival are locked on departure
Responsible for the safekeeping and preservation of housekeeping equipment
Responsible for reporting equipment damaged or lost
Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Preferred Qualifications:
Cleaning experience in hospitals, nursing homes, residential housing, hotels, large facility/multi-use buildings, office/conference space and classroom/lecture space. Experience with sustainable practices preferred.
