Job Description

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our nursing home team. The Housekeeper plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. This position directly supports infection control standards and contributes to the comfort, dignity, and well-being of those in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, nursing stations, offices, dining areas, and common spaces according to facility policies and infection-control guidelines Disinfect high-touch surfaces and follow proper procedures for isolation and precaution rooms Collect, sort, and dispose of trash, linen, and biohazard materials safely and appropriately Restock cleaning supplies, paper products, and personal protective equipment as needed Operate housekeeping equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners Perform floor care including sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the supervisor promptly Follow all OSHA, CDC, and facility safety procedures, including proper use of PPE Interact respectfully and compassionately with residents, families, and staff Maintain confidentiality and resident privacy at all times
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous housekeeping or environmental services experience preferred (healthcare or long-term care experience a plus) Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to cleaning schedules Knowledge of proper cleaning chemicals, dilution, and safety procedures Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness Ability to work independently and as part of a team Reliable attendance and punctuality Physically able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and push carts for extended periods
