JOB OVERVIEW
Clean guest rooms as assigned, ensuring the hotel's established standards of cleanliness. Position is responsible for reporting any maintenance deficiencies and handling guest requests or complaints. Ensure the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms.

Executive Housekeeper (if applicable), Housekeeping Supervisor (if applicable) General Manager
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Housekeeping Management Staff, Linen/Laundry Staff, Engineering and Hotel Managers External:
Hotel guests/visitors
QUALIFICIATIONS
Essential:
Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding.
Ability to adhere to hotel's dress code.
Desirable:
One (1) year prior experience in cleaning hotel guest rooms.
Prior guest relations training.
Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
High school graduate or equivalent or vocational training.
SKILLS:
Essential:
Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-though, courtesy.
Ability to exert physical effort in being able to clean 18 rooms per shift.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
Clean guest rooms by category priority.
Transport cart with cleaning supplies, amenities and linens to assigned guest room and position securely.
Service assigned guest rooms.
Empty trash containers and ashtrays. Remove all dirty terry and replace with clean par to designated layout.
Remove soil, dirt, soap build-up and hair from bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower walls, bathtub, shower curtain and floor.
Remove facial, toilet tissue and bathroom amenities in correct amount and location.
Remove dirty bed linen and make up bed with clean linen.
Replace laundry bag and slips.
Clean closets and door tracks on checkout rooms, removing dust and debris.
Ensure correct amount and placement of hangers, extra blanket/pill and luggage rack. Guest Room Attendant Assure that iron/ironing boards are placed in closet.(If applicable).Inspect iron/ironing board for damages.
Open all drawers/door in checkout rooms and remove items left by guests.
Dust inside.
Check under bed(s), chairs and sofa for debris and remove if present.
Dust and polish all furniture.
Remove all dust, debris and foreign particles from upholstered furniture, including crevices and under cushions.
Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips or stains - report any damages to supervisor.
Realign furniture to floor plan.
Dust pictures, frames and mirrors.
Remove dust and debris on television, VCR, clock radio, remove control and cable box.
Set correct time on clock, correct TV channel, correct movie rental insert.
Clean all lamps and light switches, check for proper working order.
Remove dust, grease and smears from telephones and reposition properly.
Empty liquid from ice bucket and wipe all surfaces dry.
Realign drapes to correct position (daily).Remove dust from drapes weekly.
Inspect conditions of amenities in desk and drawers as well as guest service directory.
Replace designated amounts at proper locations within room.
Remove trash, debris and cobwebs from balcony/patio (if applicable).
Remove dust, dirt, marks, stains, spots, smudges and/or fingerprints from:
entrance door(s),
A/C unit, vents, grids and thermostat.
Note:
turn thermostats off in vacant or checkout rooms only,
all baseboards, ledges and corners,
windows, ledges and frames.
Ensure presence of fire safety, rate cards, DND signs and any other required paperwork. Inspect condition and replace as needed.
Clean coffee pot and machine.
Replace amenities for coffee as needed.(If applicable)
Make up cribs and rollaway beds.
Vacuum carpet in guest room.
Spray room with deodorizer.
Update status of rooms cleaned on assignment sheet.
Return and restock cart at end of shift.
Stock cleaning supply caddy.
Empty vacuum bag and wipe vacuum clean weekly.
Report any damages or maintenance problems to supervisor.
Turn over any lost and found items from guest rooms to the supervisor.
Ensure security of any assigned guest room keys.
Maintain security for guests and property by keeping room doors locked at all times; reporting any suspicious activity by guests or others, properly labeling lost and found articles and turning them in, observing all other security and safety regulations.
Perform other tasks as assigned by Supervisor (ex. vacuuming corridors, cleaning public or employee rest rooms, washing windows, working in laundry, checking rooms or training of other employees, etc.)
Maintain storage areas and stock carts.
Report any occupancy discrepancies to supervisor.
Return keys and board to Supervisor and check schedule for the next day.
Provide information to guests about local attractions/services.
Listen and respond to guests' requests or complaints.
Handle guest complaints by following the six step procedures and ensure guest satisfaction.
