Non-Exempt, Hourly Position Summary The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall condition of all public areas of the hotel while supporting the housekeeping department in delivering exceptional guest service. This position assists room attendants with supplies, linen distribution, guest requests, and special cleaning projects to ensure the hotel consistently meets Choice Hotels brand standards and guest expectations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness of all public areas, including: Lobby and entrance areas Public restrooms Hallways and stairwells Fitness center Meeting rooms Employee work areas and offices Vacuum carpets, mop floors, dust furniture, clean windows, and remove trash throughout the property. Stock housekeeping closets and linen rooms with towels, linens, guest supplies, and amenities. Deliver guest-requested items such as towels, blankets, pillows, cribs, rollaway beds, and other amenities. Remove soiled linens, trash, and recyclables from housekeeping carts and guest floors. Assist room attendants with cleaning assignments and deep-cleaning projects as directed. Shampoo carpets, spot-clean walls, and perform special cleaning projects. Monitor public areas for maintenance issues and report deficiencies promptly. Maintain exterior entrances, sidewalks, and designated outdoor areas. Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and inquiries. Follow all hotel safety, security, and brand standards. Assist other departments as needed to ensure guest satisfaction. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or hotel experience preferred but not required. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to operate cleaning equipment and safely use cleaning chemicals. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Performance Expectations Maintain public areas at Choice Hotels cleanliness standards. Complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately. Respond to guest and staff requests in a timely manner. Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude. Contribute to overall guest satisfaction scores and hotel cleanliness ratings.
