PRIMARY PURPOSE

Under immediate supervision, performs a variety of housekeeping services to maintain clean and sanitary guest rooms according to established standards. May perform laundry functions. Visually inspects rooms to assist in identifying maintenance items needed. Assists guests whenever possible by providing linens, terry or providing information as requested.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides courteous guest service by responding promptly and efficiently to inquiries, requests and complaints. Performs cleaning procedures daily in guest rooms to include changing linens, dusting, cleaning stools, tub/shower, sinks and mirrors. Vacuums and spot cleans carpeted floors; washes bathroom floors daily. Wipes vanity drawers, cleans windows, vacuums drapes, and performs other cleaning duties on a periodic or scheduled basis. Restocks housekeeping carts daily with supplies, linen/terry and cleaning supplies as specified. Maintains equipment by cleaning regularly, i.e. empties dirt from vacuum daily; wipes washer/dryer as needed. Observes and reports repairs needed on any area of the room or public area in the hotel; in case of a safety hazard, reports immediately to supervisor. Complies with hotel's safety/security rules and instructions in performing work efficiently while protecting self, fellow workers and the hotel. Submits items left by guests to supervisor according to lost-and-found policy. Completes linen in/out record accurately and thoroughly. Performs other duties as required or assigned

REQUIREMENTS 1-3

years experience in housekeeping, preferably in a hotel environment. Advanced knowledge of cleaning chemicals and housekeeping best practices. Excellent attention to detail with high levels of successful communication. Ability to work at a fast pace while under pressure. Ability to encourage co-workers to perform their best work in a positive and respectful manner. Ability to multi-task and remain flexible in a stressful environment. Must be willing to work flexible hours/days including weekends and holidays. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees in this position work primarily indoors. To perform the job successfully, the candidate must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum weight of approximately 50 lbs, stand for long periods of time, kneel, bend and crawl, squat and crouch, and tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals.
