Our client is growing like crazy, and we are hiring new folks for our team! We're currently seeking a Production Lead for a fast-paced meat processing facility in Opelika, AL. This role plays a key part in coordinating daily work assignments, reinforcing safety standards, and keeping production running smoothly across all active stations. Ideal candidates are experienced in food or meat processing, dependable, and ready to step into a leadership role in a high-volume production environment.
Production Leadership & Coordination Serve as the primary point of contact for temporary associates on the production floor. Communicate daily work assignments, production priorities, and operational expectations to the team. Monitor workflow and work completion across all active stations throughout the shift. Reinforce safety requirements, GMP standards, and workplace expectations at all times. Report attendance, conduct, safety, quality, and performance concerns to Operations Leadership promptly. Provide direct instruction to associates when necessary to address immediate safety or operational concerns. Production Floor Responsibilities Sanitarily unpack, inspect, and load 60-pound frozen blocks of meat onto conveyors for grinding (Block Person stations). Verify proper weight of finished boxed product and monitor packaging quality (Scale Operator stations). Assist machine operators with setup, monitoring, and breakdown of Multivac and Formax packaging equipment (Multivac Helper stations). Monitor production lines and machine operations across Frozen department areas — Grinding, Forming, Packaging, and Scale Room — and perform rework tasks as needed (Production Associate stations). Unpack and inspect frozen cases of meat, maintain frozen blend supply, and assist with assembly/disassembly of grinding equipment including augers and grinder heads (Bulk Block Person stations). Receive, inspect, and load warehouse product and materials; safely operate forklift and pallet jack equipment (Bulk Combo Filler stations). Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all safety procedures. Wear required PPE — rubber gloves, plastic apron/sleeves, bump hat, eye and ear protection. Stand and walk for the full shift in temperatures of 35-45°F (occasionally below 10°F). Keep work area clean and organized. Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and move up to 65 lbs. Must be comfortable working in cold environments for the full duration of the shift.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a meat processing, food manufacturing, or high-volume production environment required. Must be at least the age of 18 years old. Previous lead, team lead, or supervisory experience strongly required. Working knowledge of GMP standards and production floor safety requirements. Strong communication skills — able to relay instructions clearly and address concerns in real time. Ability to monitor multiple stations and keep production on track simultaneously. Forklift and pallet jack operation experience preferred. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must have reliable transportation to and from work. Must pass background check and drug test.
