Job Description

Anomaly is an intimate, fine-dining restaurant in San Francisco led by Chef Mike Lanham. Our tasting menu is rooted in modern technique and a unique, playful perspective on food. We are looking for a full-time Captain to join our front-of-house team. This is a position for a highly attentive and polished person who can work quickly, cleanly and efficiently while maintaining a calm and polished demeanor. Our open kitchen is part of the guest experience; dishes are often presented by members of the culinary team, and Chef Mike regularly interacts with guests throughout service. The Captain plays an important role in tying that experience together—reading the table, anticipating needs, pouring beverage pairings, and making a highly technical dining experience feel effortless. Team members enjoy a positive, education-based work environment with ample opportunities to taste food and wine. Who We're Looking For You may be a great fit if you: Have previous experience in fine dining, tasting-menu restaurants, or another demanding hospitality environment. Understand the mechanics of excellent service: timing, table maintenance, communication, organization, and attention to detail. Get excited about speaking about food and beverage. Can read a table and adjust your style accordingly. Are curious and genuinely interested in continuing to learn. Communicate clearly and take feedback well. Remain composed and organized during an intense service. Enjoy working as part of a small team where everyone contributes. Beverage knowledge is valuable, but intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn are just as important. Please submit your résumé along with a short note telling us a little about yourself and why you are interested in joining Anomaly.
